The policy is to ensure all staff within the Nursery have clear knowledge of the necessary actions and procedures with regard to a safeguarding issue.

The aims and objectives are:

  • To have in place nominated Safeguarding Officer and Deputy Safeguarding Officer with appropriate training and up-to-date knowledge.
  • Staff have training and knowledge in Safeguarding matters. Where possible new staff will be booked onto a course within the first week.
  • Every staff will have Disclosure Barring Checks.
  • Staff will be provided with relevant information to promote their knowledge of how to identify abuse.
  • Ensure relevant information is displayed,
  • Staff have awareness, are able to identify and understand their responsibility to report any possible case of abuse.
  • Staff can recognise signs & symptoms and be able to refer.
  • Staff communicate effectively with each other with regard to information sharing.
  • The procedures are clear, consistent and organized to assist anyone who encounters an issue of Safeguarding.
  • Staff receive some training and have access to the Local Safeguarding Children Board guidelines..
  • Ofsted is notified of any incidents or accidents affect the safeguarding of all children. Staff will also notify LADO for support and advice
  • The Safeguarding Officer will have knowledge and training about information sharing and working in partnership with parents.
